Because the forward voltage drop of Schottky diode can produce significant power consumption in circuit applications,
it is not suitable for low voltage and high current applications. As the power levels of automotive and energy applications
increase and the demand for power density increases, the need to drive external MOSFETs through a diode controller
becomes an alternative to a new generation of high-performance system designs.
SDC7315 can be applied to photovoltaic junction box circuits to achieve reverse protection of photovoltaic modules
and prevent photovoltaic panels from being damaged due to heat spot effect.
The SDC7315 is an ideal positive high voltage ideal diode controller that drives external N-channel MOSFETs in place
of Schottky diodes and can be used in redundant and high current diode circuits to reduce power consumption and
PCB footprint. The SDC7315 drives an external MOSFET to perform redundant power management to improve system
reliability. In redundant diode applications, the SDC7315 can control the forward voltage drop at both ends of the
MOSFET to ensure smooth current transfer from one path to the other without oscillations, and in the event of a power
failure or short circuit, the MOSFET is quickly turned off to minimize reverse current transients.
